About Attorney Kristy Candela

undefinedKristy joined The Halks Firm in May 2018. Prior to joining the firm, Kristy prosecuted child abuse and neglect cases at New York City's Administration for Children's Services, where she gained extensive trial and litigation skills.

Kristy earned her J.D. from Hofstra Law School, where she attended on academic scholarship and was awarded a Child and Family Advocacy Fellowship. At Hofstra, Kristy was a Managing Editor ofFamily Court Review, a leading interdisciplinary academic and research journal for family law professionals. Kristy published an article she wrote on legal protections for victims of domestic violence, and she directly assisted in the creation of The Center for Children, Families, and the Law, a leader in national divorce reform efforts.

She developed her passion for family law from several internships, such as the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, where she represented clients in divorce and domestic violence proceedings; the Youth Advocacy Clinic, where she represented children in family court and immigration court matters; and the American Bar Association, Commission on Youth at Risk, where Kristy conducted extensive research and wrote policy reports on various issues faced by youth in the foster care system.

Kristy grew up in New York, but has always been drawn to the Boston area. In her spare time, Kristy enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
